CREATING ONE’S OWN TRANSCULTURAL IDENTITIES

This serie was inspired by personal experiences of questioning culture, identity, and seeking self.

The experience of migration yields to the creative fusion of cultures creating transcultural identities.

In doing so, we synthesize a new “self ” that does not require us to choose between cultures but incorporates
traits of both.

I chose to use masks in this series as a symbol that represents reflection of transformation, and the new identities we take on while remaining the old self.
